Please practise the words on the Fourth common word wall (found in their Home School Book). See if your child can match the words in their pot with the ones on the wall and then help them to try and read them. If the words are ticked they were able to read them in class.

Reading – We are continually working with the children to check their recognition of the 26 sounds, their common words and their understanding of text. Your child will get either a reading book or a reading activity on Monday and Wednesday this week.

Maths – This week we will continue to learn about subtraction. We will be taking away using practical material, fingers and our heads. We will continue to do a range of simple take away word problems and will be using the language of subtraction with words like less, take and subtract e.g.  what is 3 less than 8, take 3 from 7, subtract 2 from 6.

Topic – We will continue our topic about the Sea and Seashore by learning about whales and dolphins.

If you have anything that you would like to send in for our new topic, for example shells, pebbles, mermaid costumes, photographs etc, we would be delighted to have then for our display area and/or Play Zone. Thank you.
