Week beginning Monday 16th September 2019

On Tuesday we have a curriculum evening in school.

This week and next are both 4 day weeks. We are off for the September holiday weekend on Friday 20th September and Monday 23rd September.

 

P1

This week our letter sounds are p and n. Letter p homework should be completed for Wednesday and letter n homework should be completed by the following Tuesday.

P2

This week our sound is sh.  The children will get 6 words with the sh pattern and 2 common words to learn for homework. Please write each word twice in the homework book and complete for Thursday. Spelling test will be on Thursday this week.

P1

The P1 children will be introduced to two new common words which can be reinforced at home by completing the common word homework for Thursday. Words for this week are it and is. You may need to help your child writing the number after counting the words together.

P2

P2 common words will be the last 2 words on the spelling list each week. This week our words are I and the.

 

Reading

P1

We will continue with the books with no words and these will be changed daily. The children will hear the extended story in school and can retell the story to an adult at home.

The children will still have the main character names in their word pot. Kipper, Biff, Chip, Mum, Dad and Floppy.

Please bring the pink home/school book, reading book and word pot to school every day in the book bag.

P2

Our reading days are Mondays and Thursdays. The children will get a new book on these days. Please see the grid in the pink home/school book and sign when reading has been done at home.

Maths

P1

At this early stage the children will be listening to stories about number, doing counting and pattern activities and forming the numbers.

P2

The P2s have been doing some work on number to 20 – counting in 2s and 3s, odd and even numbers and ordering numbers. We will continue with our CLIC sessions – see below.

C – counting within 100

L – number bonds to 10 (9+1, 8+2, 7+3, 6+4)

I – jigsaw numbers (find the missing piece to 10)

C – multiplication (counting groups to find the total)
