Growing Resources

Dear Parents / Carers,

At school, we are going to share with each other memories about when we were very young, as part of our lesson called “I am growing”.

Please could you spend some time looking at photos of your child when they were little and tell them a bit about when the photos were taken and where.

Please would you choose one of them and let them take it into school in time for Friday (06-02-15) to share with the class. It will be brought back safely when they have finished.

Thank you for your help and co-operation.

Miss Joyce

More Ice Experiments!

Our second Science lesson about ice was just as much fun as the first!

We used pipettes and beakers to help us with our investigation.

This week we explored the effects of salt on ice. We discovered that salt lowers the freezing point of water and our ice blocks melted in an interesting way. We used watery paint to see the holes, crevasses and patterns made by the salt.

Basketball festival

we were off again to the January festival. We had two games tonight. We lost our first game to St Joseph’s but we did did score some baskets! Our second game went better against Gilcomstoun. We went into a quick lead by 14 goals but they fought back well. We ended up winning the game though. All of our players displayed very good sportsmanship and were a credit to the school. Well done Ryan, Eden, Leigha, Jamie and Reem.

Book Fair

booksThe Book Fair will be visiting Abbotswell from Wednesday 28th – Monday 2nd February. This Friday at 1.20pm, the children will get a chance to look at the books.  You are very welcome to come along and help your child to choose a book, or simply pop in at a time that suits you.  If you require any further information, please take a look at the letter sent home in your child’s book bag or contact the school office. It’s also good to know that for every book bought the school receives a commission to buy books for the new library. We look forward to another successful Book Fair Week and thank you for your support.
